There are many software that will add old style Start Menu to Windows 8. If you just want shortcut to program menu, there’s a simple way to do this without third party application. It’s very easy to add, and easy to remove, so it’s useful if you are temporary working on someone else’s computer, and want shortcut to programs.

Open explorer and from option, set to “Show hidden files and folders”.



Right click task bar, and from “Toolbars”, click “New Toolbar”.


It will ask for folder, select

c:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu

and select folder.


This will add simple Start Menu like menu (Program Menu) and make easy access to applications. If you want to remove it, simply right click tool bar and remove.
